The enchanting origins of the music box can be traced back over two centuries to a peaceful village beneath the snowy mountains of Switzerland. There, a watchmaker named Antoine Fabre had a sudden spark of inspiration and cast cold metal into a "mechanical heart" that could sing.
From that moment on, the music box was born — and with it, a soul full of romance. It may well be one of the most poetic and emotionally resonant inventions in human history.

Over time, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, and China became renowned centers for music box craftsmanship. Skilled artisans in these countries gave life to these "singing boxes" with their hands — filling them with warmth, comfort, and emotion. These small treasures soon spread across the world as beautiful gifts of love and healing.

Founded in 2011 in Tianzifang, one of Shanghai’s most iconic cultural and creative districts,
Sky Music Box was born from the passion of Jay Zhang, a devoted collector of music boxes.
For years, Jay has lovingly preserved and shared the tradition of music box culture, earning him the affectionate nickname:
“The Guardian of Music Boxes.”

Over the past decade, we have opened stores in Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, and Hangzhou,
and in recent years, brought Sky Music Box to Vancouver, continuing our journey of sharing beauty and serenity across borders.

Since its founding, Sky Music Box has carefully sourced rare and exquisite music box designs from around the world,
and uniquely fused them with handcrafted artistry and creative design —
creating collectible pieces that carry deep emotional resonance and timeless aesthetic value.
